Miami Beach Convention Center District Redevelopment Project
The City of Miami Beach is currently identifying a partner to develop the 52-acre Miami Beach Convention Center District, which will be master planned and developed holistically, maximizing the value of the land, economic and community benefits, and job growth. Portman-CMC has been selected as one of two development teams to contend for the project.

The City envisions a development that includes the following: renovation and expansion of the Miami Beach Convention Center; the addition of a multi-purpose space/ballroom to the convention center; addition of meeting space to the convention center; a new convention center headquarter hotel; outdoor public spaces; parking; restaurants; entertainment; retail and other commercial uses that are economically viable; and residences. The Master Plan should utilize sustainable building solutions, provide connectivity for the district to surrounding areas, and reflect the character of the Miami Beach community.
In addition to rigorous physical and economic research, the Portman-CMC team has begun meeting with the community and city officials to gather feedback to incorporate into its design and planning, and will continue to do so throughout the process. The team will present its Master Development Plan to the Miami Beach government and community in May. This website is intended to serve as an additional resource to keep the community informed about our team’s involvement in this important project, as well to offer a platform for additional dialogue and an exchange of ideas.
The key to the Portman-CMC team’s design process and the redeveloped convention center’s success is receiving input from the community – we want to hear from you!
